Rovio Entertainment, the company that has made a breakthrough in the entertainment sector, has recently come up with the Angry Birds Star Wars, and took everyone by surprise with its new levels, the addictive gameplay and the constant updates. And although the pairing of the classic novel and the original Angry Birds theme seemed a bit awkward at first, the collaboration of these two entertainment brands soon started delivering massive success and tons of joy for the devoted gamers.
Being a major success for more than three years since its launch, the initial Angry Birds game had slightly started to lose some of its glow. The main reason for that was the uninspiring storyline, as it was limited to the Birds’ efforts to bounce back against the nasty Pigs and retake their stolen eggs. So, that is exactly where this new version comes to offer new levels of excitement.
The story of the game starts when a group of Pigs kidnap the Pink Bird (now Princess Leia); luckily, she manages to send a message to an isolated planet, and the quest of saving her begins!
Naturally, the main concept is the same; the player still has to pull the slingshot and throw the Angry Birds against the Pigs. However, the challenging new levels and the distinctive new characters make that battle against the pigs more captivating and enjoyable. Bearing strong resemblance with the Star Wars theme, the main characters featured in Angry Birds Star Wars are Luke Skywalker (Red Bird), Obi Wan-Kenobi (Black Bird) and Chewbacca (Big Brother Bird).
Of course, the main goal is again to collect the Golden Eggs (now labeled as “Golden Droids”). Obviously, the recognizable gravity-ruled planetary action and the friendly controls remain, while the traditional Angry Birds fans will still find the familiar atmosphere and the unique sound effects that made the series so loveable!
A major difference between the other Angry Birds editions and this new one is that the birds’ powers are constantly adapted to the storyline. To give you an illustration, in the early stages, the Red Bird/Luke Skywalker (which, by the way, has a priceless 70’s haircut!) starts with a blue lightsaber and, in a later upgrade, he is armed with a much more powerful green lightsaber, which can also hit at a greater distance!
Angry Birds Star Wars is available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices, as well as Mac, PC and Windows 8, providing you with a wide variety of choices.
